Translation of documents from Ukraine
Certified translations from Ukrainian into Polish and from Polish into Ukrainian: civil-status records, education documents, certificates and powers of attorney.
Civil-status records, diplomas and official documents
The translation covers the document’s text, stamps, annotations and attachments specified in the assignment. For a quotation, send all pages in the order in which they form the document.
| Document type | What to provide |
|---|---|
| Birth, marriage or death certificate | The entire document, including the reverse and visible annotations. |
| Diploma and supplement | The diploma and all supplement pages, if both are to be translated. |
| Certificate or attestation | All pages and attachments required by the recipient. |
| Decision, power of attorney, official document | The full text with signatures, stamps and attached clauses. |
Certification and the source document
Art. 13 pkt 1 of the Act on the Profession of Sworn Translator defines the authority to prepare and certify translations in both language directions. Art. 18 ust. 2 requires the translation to identify whether it was based on an original, translation or copy, and whether the earlier translation or copy was certified and by whom. A certified translation also bears its entry number in the professional register.
In your enquiry, state the form in which you hold the document. A clear scan is used for an initial quotation; arrangements for presenting the original and delivering the translation are agreed before work begins.
Spelling of first names and surnames
When translating given names and surnames written in an alphabet or writing system other than Latin, Art. 14(2) of the Act provides for establishing spelling from a travel document or copy. If no such document is available, the spelling rules of the country issuing the translated document apply. If you have a travel document, provide the page containing the details needed to establish the spelling.
Language and scope of documentation
Send a legible copy of the document with its clauses and annotations. The practice uses this to establish the material’s language and translation scope. Vadym Rekel’s sworn translator authorisation covers Ukrainian.
Assignment and collection
Specify the document type, translation direction, institution receiving the translation, desired deadline and number of copies. If you have received a list of required documents, attach it to your enquiry.
