Legal and business documentation
Cooperation covers pleadings and case-file attachments, contracts with amendments, powers of attorney, statements, registration documents and correspondence between parties. The translation preserves document identifiers, clause numbering, cross-references and entity details.
For documentation covering several contracts or case-file volumes, we agree consistent terminology, the scope of each part and delivery deadlines. Earlier translations, a list of names and documents cited in the contract serve as reference material.
Documents submitted in civil proceedings
Article 256 of the Code of Civil Procedure provides that a court may request a sworn translation of a foreign-language document. The practice prepares certified translations of Ukrainian documents submitted as attachments to claims, applications and other pleadings.
The assignment may identify the document, range of case-file folios, case reference and filing deadline. Page numbering and attachment identifiers remain linked to the material supplied for translation.
Certification and identification of the translation
Under Art. 18(2) of the Act on the Profession of Sworn Translator, certification states the register number and whether the translation was based on an original, translation or copy. For a translation or copy, it also states whether it was certified and by whom.
A full scan of the document is used for quotation. The source basis, number of copies, delivery format and collection method are agreed when the assignment is accepted.
Professional confidentiality
The obligation to keep confidential facts and circumstances learned in connection with translation arises from Art. 14(1)(2) of the Act. It also covers law firms' client documentation, contract content and correspondence supplied for translation.
