BLIK fraud and impersonation of family and friends
Questioning, messaging-app conversations and payment confirmations. Legal classification depends on the method used; use of BLIK alone does not determine it.
Questioning, hearings and evidence in Ukrainian. Cooperation with courts, Police, prosecutors' offices and law firms in Kraków and throughout Poland.
I translate statements and documents between Polish and Ukrainian: from questioning and instructions, through examination of evidence, to hearings and rulings. The interpreter remains impartial whether the act concerns a witness, injured party, suspect or accused person.
Art. 72 k.p.k. protects the right to an interpreter of an accused person or suspect with insufficient command of Polish. Art. 204 covers, among other things, questioning someone who does not speak Polish and translation of necessary material. The need arises from the language and the activity, not nationality. The Code does not reserve all these tasks exclusively to people on the sworn translators’ list.
art. 72, 204 · Code of Criminal ProcedureThe selection below illustrates possible assignments, not a ranking of offences or statistics about foreigners. The competent authorities determine the legal classification based on the facts.

Correspondence with the platform, contracts, payment history and the injured party's statements. The translation preserves the promises, reservations and chronology of the source.
Advertisements, contracts, advance payments and correspondence. Failure to perform a contract does not automatically constitute an offence; assessment of intent belongs to the procedural authority.
Translation of records and descriptions of data operations. Art. 287 concerns specific interference with data or its processing; not every online fraud is computer fraud.
Reports, messages and documents describing unauthorised access or impersonation with intent to cause harm. The translator does not perform a forensic IT analysis of a device.
Documents, seals, signatures and records concerning, among other things, forgery, obtaining false certification or using another person's document. Translation does not constitute an opinion on authenticity.
Documentation of accounts, transactions and business relationships. Participation in a transfer alone does not determine liability; the translator faithfully translates the material and does not establish the origin of funds.
Records, inventories, purchase documents and testimony. Precise description of the item and distinctions between ownership, possession and entrustment matter.
Participation in questioning, translation of incident documentation, instructions and rulings. Technical and medical terminology is translated in accordance with the material's content.
Interpreting statements by injured parties, witnesses and suspects impartially. Accuracy, confidentiality and conditions allowing the person to understand the activity are essential.
For digital material, we agree the files, scope, sender identifiers, message order and how illegible passages will be marked. Recordings require agreement on the scope of listening and transcription. Preserving the source and securing the evidence remain the commissioning authority's responsibility; translation does not replace an IT forensic examination.
An institutional enquiry should state the unit, case reference, type of act, date, location, expected duration and person in charge. Preparatory material and its transfer method are agreed with regard to the confidentiality of proceedings. My criminology education and presentation on BLIK fraud at TEPIS workshops in 2024 support my preparation for this work.
