Ukrainian interpreting
Polish–Ukrainian interpreting during hearings, questioning, notarial acts and meetings concerning legal documentation.
Procedural acts
In criminal proceedings, interpreter participation is governed by art. 72 and 204 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. In civil proceedings, art. 265 § 1 allows an interpreter to be appointed for questioning a witness without sufficient command of Polish.
Interpreting covers participants’ statements, questions, answers and the contents of documents read aloud during the activity. Providing the case identification and reference documents in advance supports preparation of procedural terminology.
Notarial acts
Art. 2 § 3 of the Law on Notaries provides for using a sworn translator when performing acts additionally in a foreign language. Art. 87 § 1(1) specifies the procedure when a participant does not know Polish. Preparation materials include the draft deed, powers of attorney and annexes intended for use during the meeting.
